Wake SHIP (Summer Housing Intern Program)

GENERAL INFORMATION

Easy. Convenient. Affordable. Wake SHIP provides you with a comfortable home away from home during your summer internship and offers the opportunity to interact with other interns from the local area, across the country, and around the world.

New for 2020, interns will be housed at Deacon Place, our apartment complex conveniently located within walking distance of campus. Each fully furnished unit includes private bedrooms, private bathrooms, shared living space, kitchen, and in unit laundry facilities.  Deacon Place’s outstanding amenities and utilities are incorporated in the nightly rate. 

Eligibility


We welcome all individuals at least 18 years of age, involved in non-classroom academic coursework, such as but not limited to, thesis, dissertation work, or internship work related to an academic discipline or other special circumstances in the Triad area.

Registration Deadline


While there is no registration deadline for intern housing, placement is based on a first come first serve basis.

HOUSING DETAILS


Deacon Place, a residential apartment complex, includes both one level and townhome style unites. Each fully furnished unit includes private bedrooms with private baths,  shared living space, shared kitchen, in unit laundry facilities, a gated community, wireless internet, cable television, convenient parking, access to downtown shuttle service, clubhouse with study room, fitness center & in ground pool.  Bedroom & bathrooms are private and come furnished with a bed, clothing storage, desk & chair.  Residents are responsible for furnishing all essential amenities including: television, linens, cookware, dishes, etc.

    Bicycles
    You are welcome to bring your bike, but you cannot easily store it in your room. Bike racks are provided around the residence halls. Be sure to bring a bike lock for security!

Arrival & Departure Information


Check In

Staff will be available for check in on Monday, June 1, 2020 at the Deacon Place Clubhouse between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM .   If you are arriving afterhours or on the weekend, please make every effort to notify the Conference & Event Services team prior to your requested date to arrange for a staff member to meet you.

Check Out

Information on key drop will be provided closer to date of check out.

Departures on August 1, 2020 must check out no later than noon. 

*As a reminder, all Guests are allowed one check-in and one check-out per stay within our facilities.*

KEYS, ACCESS CARDS & LOCKOUTS


All Guests in Wake Summer Housing Intern Program are assigned keys for access to their apartment. Under no circumstances are these keys to be loaned or given to anyone else.

Guests who lose their key(s) /access card during the course of their stay on campus must report such loss to the Conference Service office within 24 hours. In the event of a lost or unreturned apartment key, all apartment locks will be changed, even if the roommates, where applicable, have not lost their keys or the other bedrooms are not occupied.

LOST KEY CHARGE: $75.00

LOST ACCESS CARD CHARGE: $15.00

Upon check-out from University housing, all keys/access cards must be returned. Failure to do so will result in lost key charges.

HOUSEKEEPING


Apartments & rooms will be cleaned before arrival.  You are responsible for keeping your room & apartment tidy; including cleaning the bathroom, kitchen & taking out your trash during your stay.  Trash disposal is centrally located around each residence hall. Custodial services will not enter an occupied apartment to clean. Guests may obtain extra toilet paper at the Conference Services Desk in Polo Residence Hall.


NIGHTLY RATES

Shared Apartment with Private Bedroom, Private Bathroom*

$25.00 per person, per night. 

Total per person June 1-August 1, 2020:  61 nights * $25.00 per night = $1,525.00

*Shared apartment includes, kitchen, living area, laundry units.

 

Private Apartment (1 person apartment)

$40.00 per person, per night.

Total per person June 1-August 1, 2020:  61 nights * $40.00 per night = $2,440.00
