No, it is entirely optional. All undergraduate students are eligible, but you must opt-in via Workday each term by the published deadline. If you do not opt-in, you are responsible for buying your textbooks independently.

Yes. If you choose not to opt-in to the Deacon Book Bundle, you can still purchase or rent your required textbooks independently through the WFU Bookstore or from another retailer of your choice.

Only materials marked as “Required” by your professor are included. This includes digital textbooks, courseware/access codes, physical textbooks, and lab manuals or workbooks. “Recommended” or optional materials are not included but can be bought separately at the WFU Bookstore.

No. The Deacon Book Bundle only includes required course materials (such as digital textbooks, print books, courseware access codes, and lab manuals). Hardware and technology programs like Wake Ware are separate and are not covered under the bundle charge.

Many students save money thanks to the WFU Bookstore’s relationships with publishers and bulk sourcing. More importantly, it gives you a transparent, predictable cost so you can budget with confidence.

Digital materials are delivered directly in Canvas via your My Materials link. 

Students will receive email communications from with access details and instructions.

If a course requires physical materials: 

• In-Store Pickup
  • Students will receive an email when materials are ready for pickup at the campus bookstore. 
  • Students must show their Student ID when picking up materials. 
• Shipping (if applicable)
  • Should a student choose to have their materials shipped, they would need to purchase a shipping SKU on the eFollett website.
    • $10 domestic
    • $75 international

Students will receive email notifications regarding shipment delivery.  

As long as the standard campus deadline has not passed, you can change your status (Opt-In or Opt-Out) at any time by logging into Workday.

The charge will appear on your student account as “Book Bundle.” If you opt-in, the charge is applied. If you opt-out before the deadline, the charge will be removed from your account.

Added Courses 

• Within 24 hours of adding a participating course, students will be given the opportunity to opt into the program and receive access to their required digital materials in Canvas. If physical materials are required, the campus store will notify the student when they are ready. 

Dropped Courses 

• Access to digital materials will be disabled after the drop deadline. 
• If physical materials were provided, they must be returned to the campus store. 

Your book bundle price will be determined by your class (i.e. First Year, Sophomore, Junior, Senior) at the time of billing. For example, if you are a Sophomore on 11/2/2026 when Spring bills are published, but complete enough credit hours to advance to Junior status by the start of Spring semester in January of 2027, you will be billed for Book Bundle at the Sophomore rate.
