Transportation and Parking Services has added three additional electric vehicle charging stations across campus.

New locations are:

  • Parking Lot Q (Between Dogwood Residence Hall and Waker Space)
  • Parking A (Located on the backside of Efird Residence Hall near the Bookstore dock)
  • Parking Z5 (First-year student parking lot)

These are in addition to the stations located at Parking Lots U2, W1, Gulley Dr., and UCC. All charging stations are Level 2 stations (Charge faster than level 1 chargers).
Each station has two charging ports and can therefore charge two vehicles at a time.
To ensure consistency, all charging stations are Chargepoint.

What we attempt to accomplish by adding more stations:

  • Meet the growing demand for electric vehicles being driven to campus
  • Provide charging stations in both Faculty/Staff and student parking lots
  • Installing more electric vehicle charging stations on campus makes it possible for more students, staff, and visitors to bring their electric vehicles to campus.
  • More electric vehicles assist in reducing the university’s carbon footprint. Since the introduction of our first charging station in 2015, the university has avoided 59,132kg of greenhouse gas emissions. That’s like planting 1,516 trees and letting them grow for 10 years (This information was gathered from the Chargepoint Dashboard we have access to).
