This month’s employee spotlight is our Mail Services Manager, Philip Saunders. He’s been working for Wake since 2008 and to celebrate all of Philip’s achievements, we asked him a few questions about his time here at Wake.

Tell us more about your role and background.

I am the new manager of WFU Mail Services. I’m replacing Meri Silveri who was here for 41 years. I have been working on the campus of Wake Forest since 2008. I started when the UPS Store was here and located in Poteat. Working here at Wake Forest has been an awesome experience and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for WFU Mail Services.

What made you apply for a position at Wake?

The contract of the UPS Store expired, and I was asked if I would like to stay. I have been working in Mail Services on campus since December 2010. What made me apply for the position in mail services was the employees. We all get along great with each other. We are one big, happy family.

What’s a highlight from your years of service?

Getting to know most of the faculty and staff on campus and becoming the manager of Mail Services.

What is your favorite part about your job?

Interacting with the students, faculty, and staff. Helping people is something I enjoy doing. Making sure the students, faculty, and staff are happy is the best part of my job.

What do you see as your biggest accomplishment during your years of service?

The biggest accomplishment would be implementing the parcel lockers into Mail Services. We currently have 304 parcel lockers and the students really like being able to access them during building hours and not during business hours.

What is your favorite hobby or activity to do outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my wife and three kids. We love watching Wake Forest Football Games, basketball, and baseball.

Thank you Philip for all your hard work! We are so lucky to have you on our team!
